Why Get A TCA Facial Peel?

January 23, 2026

If you are looking to enter the new year feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, facial peels are a great place to start. These procedures chemically exfoliate facial skin, helping to even skin texture and pigment while also improving fine lines and wrinkles.

What Is A TCA Peel?

TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peels can vary in depth, depending on the percent concentration of peel and number of layers applied. This chemical causes proteins in the skin to denature, breaking down tissue through the process of exfoliation. TCA can be combined with other types of acid to enhance its effects. We most commonly combine TCA with lactic acid which aids in suppressing tyrosinase, an enzyme that breaks down the production of melanin and other pigments. Hydroquinone is a stronger agent that can be added to our peels to lighten pigment. We also commonly combine TCA with citric acid, which is a great anti-aging and skin brightening treatment. Salicylic acid is another common treatment which is added for its benefits to acne and oil prone skin.

How To Prepare Your Skin For A TCA Peel

You may be asked to stop any products with retinol, AHAs/BHAs or hydroquinone a few days to a full week before the procedure, as these treatments can increase the penetration of the peel and cause sensitivity.

Booking Your TCA Peel

When you are considering a facial peel, make sure that you are consulting with a provider that is trained in facial aesthetics. Our quick in-office facial peels are performed by our PA, Layla, and have about 5-7 days of peeling or flaking. They most commonly address the superficial layers of skin to help brighten your skin. A series of peels will give the best result, and we usually space these peels out about one month apart.

Call Visage today to schedule an in-office peel or telephone consultation with our PA! If you are interested in scheduling a peel, you can also fill out our Skin Surveyprior to your appointment.
