All procedures below were performed by Dr. Anand D. Patel. Results vary by individual.

The goal of otoplasty is to produce an adult appearance to an underdeveloped ear. Often underdeveloped ears look prominent and can cause embarrassment to patients. Many patients will grow out their hair to conceal their ears. Restoring an age-appropriate appearance gives these patients increased confidence in their appearance.

Otoplasty is complex and may involve not only “pinning” the ear back, but also re-creating the natural folds of the ear. With older children and adults, this procedure may be performed in the office under local anesthesia.

Small changes to the lateral projection of the ears can have a profound effect on the shape of the face and give the appearance of maturity.

Earlobe reduction is a quick procedure that can be done under local anesthesia. Another procedure commonly performed on earlobes is repair of a split lobe due to a piercing.

One tell-tale sign of aging that we rarely think about is droopy earlobes. Earlobe reduction is a subtle change that significantly affects one’s perceived age.

This patient always hid her ears because she did not like her protruding earlobes. A more aggressive earlobe reduction can not only make the earlobes smaller but also re-position them closer to the head.
