Are You A Good Candidate For A TCA Chemical Peel?

February 3, 2026

If you are looking to resurface your skin and improve fine lines, wrinkles, pigment, tone, and texture, a TCA peel may be perfect for you. TCA (trichloroacetic acid) is a common type of acid used in facial peels. It works by exfoliating and shedding the outermost layers of your skin to get down to healthy skin cells.

There are several strengths of TCA peels ranging from superficial to deep. Remember that peels have 7-10 days of downtime including peeling, flaking and feeling a bit ‘sunburned.’ Deeper peels will give you a more significant result but with a deeper peel, you will have more downtime. Layla performs superficial and medium depth peels here in the office, while Dr. Patel performs deeper peels in the procedure room or operating room.

You should optimize your skin before any peel. Acne and melasma should be under control, and you should not have any active cold sores or fever blisters. If you are a patient with melasma, it is important to seek guidance from a dermatologist prior to your peel, as some peels can exacerbate the condition. Be sure that you discuss any prior history of cold sores with your provider so that they can provide you with appropriate preventative treatments.

Prepping your skin with a retinol and/or hydroquinone cream can drastically improve the results of your peel. While skin prep is required for medium and deeper depth peels, it may not be required for a superficial peel. It is best to discuss skin prep with your provider before your appointment, most skin prep creams will need to be discontinued three days prior to your peel.

A series of peels are a great way to resurface your skin during these cold winter days while you are staying out of the summer sun. During your appointment, Layla will work with you to choose the right type and strength of peel for your skin. If you have any questions or concerns about your skin before your appointment, Layla would be happy to set up a time to talk with you in person or over the phone! Call 262.701.7040 to schedule your TCA facial peel today.

Our TCA peels are $200 each or bundle and save with 3 peels for $525.
