Ask An Expert: Can A Chin Implant And Buccal Fat Removal Be Performed In-Office Under Local Anesthesia?

Question: "I am looking to have buccal fat removed from my face and/or a chin implant added. However, I don't want to have to go through a surgery with general anesthesia. Most websites don't say if a doctor would perform the procedure in-office or at a surgery center under general anesthesia. Would most doctors perform this in-office? Is there a chance that I could ask a doctor to perform it in-office?"
Answer: "Both procedures can be performed under local anesthesia in the office. Keep in mind, however, that under local anesthesia you will still feel the pain of injections as well as pulling and pressure sensations. Only you will know if these sensations will be bothersome enough for you to prefer general anesthesia."
