Why Fall & Winter Are The Best Times For A Chemical Peel

Anand Patel • January 6, 2021

The cold weather may not be your favorite, but it is the perfect time to schedule a facial peel. Chemical facial peels are gentle acids used to exfoliate the outer layers of skin, allowing smoother hydrated skin to take its place. The result? Fewer wrinkles, improved skin hydration & texture, balanced oil production and a beautiful, natural glow. Getting a peel while you are staying indoors and less exposed to UV rays will allow your skin to heal quicker so you can enjoy better results.

What do chemical peels treat?

  • Acne
  • Age Spots
  • Discoloration (blotchy complexion, uneven skin tone)
  • Dull complexion
  • Fine lines (especially under the eyes and around the mouth)
  • Freckles
  • Rough-feeling skin
  • Sun-damaged skin

How is a chemical peel performed?

Before applying the peel, we cleanse the skin and apply anesthesia (usually in the form of a topical numbing cream). The chemical peel is then applied with a special applicator in one or more layers. A cooling compress placed at the end of the procedure to reduce discomfort.

Are chemical peels painful?

Most patients feel a tolerable burning sensation that passes quickly. While not painful, the skin will feel more sensitive during the peeling period.

What are the side effects?

A mild tingling or burning sensation is common during the peel. Depending on the strength, patients may experience redness, irritation, peeling and lightening of the skin during the peeling period.

Serious side effects, such as infections, prolonged redness, and scarring, may result with deeper peels if not done carefully by an expert. These side effects are minimized by following our protocols.
