Winter Is Coming! Peel Away Summer Sun Damage With A Chemical Peel

Layla Shadman • Oct 29, 2021

Here at Visage Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer a range of facial chemical peels. Most of our peels can be done here in the office with our PA Layla, while the deeper, more intense peels will be done in the operating room with Dr. Patel. Our ZO skin care line offers two amazing peels that can be done here in the office – we will discuss these two peels a bit further.

1. Stimulator Peel

The ZO Stimulator Peel is our ‘red carpet,’ no downtime peel that can be done over a lunch break. It is the perfect peel to get you ready for a special event or a weekend getaway, and it can be done the same week as your event. This peel consists of a three-acid ‘cocktail’ of salicylic, lactic and citric acids. These alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) help to smooth fine lines and superficial wrinkles while brightening skin tone and clearing up rough, dry texture. This peel is good for everyone – oily or dry and all Fitzpatrick skin types. It works at the superficial layer of your skin, or epidermis, to provide gentle exfoliation. It is best to repeat the ZO Stimulator Peel in a series of three to four peels, spaced as soon as one week apart. It can then be repeated once or twice a year to maintain your glow. Our 3 peel stimulator package costs $240.

2. 3-Step Peel

If you want to go a bit stronger, our ZO 3-Step Peel is perfect for you. With this peel, you will have some downtime. The peel gives you awesome results, but you can expect one to two weeks of peeling and potential redness/irritation. For optimal results, we ask you to ‘prep’ your skin for four to six weeks with a retinol cream. This peel consists of a 10% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) component in addition to salicylic and lactic acids. It has an additional boost of a 6% retinol component to promote cell turnover. This combination of acids helps to combat signs of aging and skin discoloration to improve skin health. It can help correct pigment issues while also reducing large pores and fine wrinkles. Again, ZO has created a peel that is good for all skin types. It can be done once, or it can be completed in a series of three to four treatments spaced one month apart. After the initial series of treatments, you can repeat this peel one to two times per year to maintain your healthy skin.

3. Diluted Phenol Peel

If you are interested in an even stronger peel, you can schedule a consultation with Dr. Patel to discuss your options. Dr. Patel offers a diluted phenol peel that is reserved for patients with more extensive sun damage, lines and wrinkles. This treatment is performed under anesthesia at a surgical center and will require more downtime. You will see more significant peeling and will need to be vigilant about sun avoidance, but the peel provides excellent results for the right candidate.

Schedule Your Chemical Peel Today!

The ZO Stimulator Peel can be done the day of your appointment, as no preparation is required for this peel. Our ZO 3-Step Peel will require a quick phone consultation beforehand to make sure your skin is prepped accordingly. Dr. Patel’s phenol peel will require an in-person consultation before treatment. The choice of what peel is right for you is determined by both you and your provider. Call our office at (262) 701-7040 to schedule your chemical peel today, and we will be happy to discuss all your options!
