Revision rhinoplasty (also referred to as secondary rhinoplasty) is performed to correct one or more previous rhinoplasty surgeries. This is one of the most difficult operations performed in facial plastic surgery because the structure has already been altered and scar tissue may be present. Some revision rhinoplasty cases only involve minor modifications to the nostrils or tip, while more complicated ones require cartilage grafts to restructure the nasal bridge or tip. Revision rhinoplasty is usually performed a year or more after the previous procedure to allow time for adequate healing.

1. After two unsuccessful rhinoplasty procedures elsewhere, this patient came to us for a more feminine nose. Dr. Patel raised the tip, lowered the bridge and elevated the columella to reduce nostril show.
2. Following a previous rhinoplasty, this patient disliked the irregularities at the tip of her nose and the unnatural transition between the bridge and tip of her nose, mainly seen on the oblique view. Revision rhinoplasty was performed to smooth the transition from the tip to the bridge of the nose.
3. After previous nose surgery at another clinic, this patient was unhappy with the unnatural sharpness at the nasal tip and the amount of nostril show on the side view. Revision tip surgery was performed to round the tip of the nose and lower the nostril rims to make the openings appear smaller. The rounder appearance softens her features.
4. This man had undergone multiple revisions to correct his crooked nose. Rib cartilage was used to straighten it.
