Ask An Expert: Chin Implant Removal

Anand Patel • June 7, 2022

Question: "I’m looking into removing my silicone implant due to unforeseen anxiety I’ve developed regarding having an implant in my face. My question is, based on me being 23 and having had this medium implant in for less than a year, can I expect my chin to return to its original pre-op state? I’m not expecting an 100% return to normal, but am nervous about having my skin sag post removal. Is recovery time and swelling the same as putting in an implant?"

Answer: "Earlier removal of the implant generally has a better outcome. In a young patient, like yourself, there is a better chance that the soft tissue will contract back to its original shape."
