Over the past several years, preventative Botox has been popular among individuals in their 20's and early 30's. The goal is to
prevent wrinkles before they start forming, which happens over time from repetitive facial movements like smiling, frowning, or raising the brow. Neuromodulators, like
Botox or Dysport injections, prevent these lines from deepening by temporarily relaxing the muscles around the eyes (crow’s feet), between the brows (11’s) and horizontal forehead lines. It is believed that regular, early treatments may delay the appearance of these types of wrinkles. But at what age should you start getting these injections?
The age at which you start using Botox or Dysport is dependent on a variety of factors. Some patients receive these injections simply for cosmetic reasons. Others do for medical purposes, such as migraines. Because we all age at different rates and have varying degrees of muscle strength/wrinkle severity, we recommend consulting with a trusted provider, such as our
PA Layla, for recommendations on when to start treatments. You must be 18 or older to consent to using the treatment on your own.
There are theories that if you consistently and appropriately keep up with your neurotoxin injections, your muscles may become weaker overtime, requiring less neurotoxin as you age. This may not be the case for everyone, and each patient metabolizes the product differently.
