Question: "What is the average rhinoplasty cost? Does the price of a nose job vary by state like some other plastic surgeries?"

Dr. Anand Patel: "Price will often depend on the extent of the rhinoplasty, the surgeon's experience and the market in which your surgeon resides. The price can range from $6000 to $15,000* depending on the type of rhinoplasty. Anything that adds to a more complex procedure will result in a higher price. For example, tip rhinoplasty is less expensive than full rhinoplasty. Likewise, primary rhinoplasty costs less than revision rhinoplasty, as the latter is a more involved procedure due to scarring and alterations in structure from the previous surgery.

Keep in mind:

• Most surgeons agree that rhinoplasty is the most complicated plastic surgery.

• Rhinoplasty can be a transformative procedure (rather than restorative) which means, if desired, we may change your appearance entirely to one completely new to you.

• Rhinoplasty not only has an affect on appearance, but also on function.

In all, the technical ability and artistic eye of the surgeon should be the most important considerations in your decision-making. Make sure you and your surgeon have a common goal and use digital imaging to visualize that common goal. Make sure you have a good rapport with your surgeon and feel that you can ask him/her anything. This is not like eating out or buying a car. This is a permanent change to your face, and you may enjoy (or dislike) the results of your procedure for the rest of your life."
