Dermaplaning

Exfoliation for a soft, healthy glow.

The build-up of dead skin and microscopic hairs on our face can make our skin appear dull, flaky, and even cause breakouts due to clogged pores. For immediate improvement in skin texture and tone, consider dermaplaning.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a method of manual exfoliation. Using a scalpel, our aesthetician gently removes layers of dead skin cells along with fine vellus hair ("peach fuzz"), revealing a smoother, brighter complexion. This manual exfoliation treatment is one of the best ways to give your skin a softer feel and healthy glow for all skin types with little to no downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to prepare my skin before my dermaplaning session?

We ask that you avoid any facial waxing or tanning beds for a minimum of 7 days before and after your dermaplaning treatment. You will also discontinue using topical products that include: Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid or Salicylic Acid, 3 days prior.

  • Can I combine dermaplaning with another treatment?

Dermaplaning has many benefits on its own. However, when combined with other treatments, it allows skincare products to penetrate more deeply into your skin. Dermaplaning is excellent to prepare your skin before a HydraFacial or specific chemical peels.

  • Will my hair grow back thicker and darker after dermaplaning?

No, a common and false misconception, hair removed will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment within 4 weeks.

  • Is there downtime with dermaplaning?

There is little to no downtime after dermaplaning. Some light redness can be expected for patients with more sensitive skin, but not for long.

  • How long do results typically last?

Many patients enjoy this procedure every 3-4 weeks to maintain the results of an exfoliated, smooth, hair-free face.
